The Battalion moved to Dovercourt Camp in Harwich in July 1961. Owing to the deployment to British Guyana, the stay in Harwich would be fairly short for the majority of the Battalion. Very little history remains in the system with regard to Dovercourt Camp, it was a movement Control Check point in the late fifties when the Port of Harwich was in it’s prime.
After the end of World War 2 a lot of the displaced persons were transited through Dovercourt Camp. Lets see if we can expand on the history, as the majority of the information coming off Google concerns the Hi Di Hi!! series which was filmed nearby.
