To many of us the Battalion is a family, and no more so than within the married Quarters areas where the families spend the majority of their lives. For many of the children reaching the end of their school years, they cannot wait to enlist. For those enlisting into their fathers unit, it can be an education or should that be a rude awakening!
Memories of wonderful day’s in the Cpl’s or Sgt’s Mess with all those happy go lucky ‘uncles’ sometimes come down to earth when you meet them in the workplace. It can also be something of a culture shock to find that not everyone loved your ‘Dad’!
However, in the close knit environment of the Battalion, friendships were made which have lasted a lifetime. When you joined the Battalion you were much in demand as a baby-sitter, by those who knew your parents.
